Bio

Alex Goldberg is an electric and upright bass player with deep connections to a variety of musical styles such as blues, jazz, rock, reggae, bluegrass and hip hop. He has performed on stage with Jeff Hana, Jimmie Fadden and Bob Carpenter of The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Brad Corrigan of Dispatch, Bill Nershi of the String Cheese Incident, Vince Herman and Drew Emmit of Leftover Salmon, Ben Wysoki of The Fray and Todd Park Mohr of Big Head Todd and The Monsters. Recently at a show at The Boulder Theater Goldberg shared the bass duties for the night with bass legends Kenny Passerelli, bassist for Elton John, Joe Walsh and Hall and Oats as well as Stanley Sheldon, bassist for Peter Frampton who played on the “Frampton Comes Alive” record.

Goldberg graduated from The University of Colorado Denver with a BS in Bass Performance, studying under Greg Garrison, a founding member of The Punch Brothers and current member of Leftover Salmon. Goldberg is a versatile musician with 15 years of experience playing bass, starting in school jazz and orchestra ensembles. He has been playing professionally for eight of those years. 

From 2013-2018 Goldberg was a member of The Austin Young Band. The group toured the country, including performing on the 2016 Joe Bonamassa Blues cruise alongside Robert Randolph and the  Family Band, Blues Traveler, and many more. Goldberg co-wrote and recorded bass for the album Not So Simple during his time with Austin Young. 

Goldberg is a current member of the group Chris Daniels and The Kings, with Freddi Gowdy. Chris Daniels is in the Colorado Music Hall of Fame and has been leading the successful horn driven funk band for over 35 years. Goldberg is the youngest member of The Kings and has played for over 100,000 people at Civic Center Park in Denver, as well gigs all over Colorado. 

Goldberg also plays shows in many diverse styles including church music and bluegrass on upright bass. He continues to be one of the busiest young musicians in Denver working with a variety of bands in different settings.
